Did you know you can use soft pastels (aka chalk pastels) with watercolors, acrylic paints, colored pencils, and even collage? In this experimental workshop, we’ll explore ways you can take your work further by adding soft pastels to your favorite medium—or shaking up your pastel art by adding something new! With plenty of hands-on time to play, experiment, ask questions, and get feedback, we’ll cover: 

• Getting your pastel drawing wet (!) for interesting effects

• Using watercolors or acrylics as an underpainting for pastels (or OVER pastels for mixing and blending) 

• Using acrylic grounds to help you layer pastels over collage elements

• Using soft pastels with other dry media, such as charcoal, graphite, and colored pencils

Class size is limited to 12 students.
