Open up a world of color through the medium of soft pastels!

Do you love playing with color, but sometimes find it challenging to get the results you want? In this workshop, learn how to make color theory work for you through the unique medium of soft pastels.

Because pastels don’t require pre-mixing or drying time, they are ideal for trying new things and exploring the rainbow. Learn creative pastel techniques while building your color knowledge in ways that are fun, approachable, and practical.

We'll cover techniques for achieving lifelike, naturalistic color, and then experiment with ways to push color in bold, expressive directions. In the end, you’ll have a solid foundation for making confident color decisions in your work—whether you continue in pastels or apply what you learn to other mediums.

You'll do exploratory drawing exercises, work from still life materials (provided) and your own photo references, and draw a live model.

Open to all levels. Some drawing and/or painting experience is useful, but not required. Supplies required.

Class size is limited to 12 students.
